Risk Assessment: check appropriate measures are in place in compliance with clause J1 to J5 of the Building Regulations
Flue Draught Check: to ensure installation maintains a flue draught within manufacturer claimed parameters
Spillage & Smoke Test: Depending on appliance type to determine products of combustion do not spill into the room in which the appliance is
installed.
Remedial Notice: detailing that the relevant checks have been made and highlighting the key points that are not currently met within industry guidelines

Visual Checks - Immediate signs of spillage (dark deposits in sight of appliance) - Permanent and adequate ventilation to the appliance

Charring of any visible wooden beams/combustibles materials
User Information - Copy of manufacturer installation & servicing instructions are available onsite - Any previous activation of CO alarm and
incidents of spillage queried - Previous maintenance/sweeping schedule available and reviewed - Confirm appropriate fuels being burned - Issues in lighting the appliance highlighted - Has the
installation been signed off by an appropriate competent person
Appropriate Testing - We carry out a 'smoke test number 2' and where posible depending on appliance type that there is sufficient flue draught in
line with manufacturer draught parameters - Effects of extraction on flue draught tested and results recorded - Products of combustion emmiting into the atmosphere via the terminal - Appliance
spillage checked and recorded during refuel
Advise Consumer - We will ensure that you are made fully aware of the results of any assessment undertaken and reasoning behind why any
appropriate action is taken. - Dependent on the risk based score, ensure that you are fully aware on the safety aspects of the continued operation of the appliance or whether further remedials are
required as appropriate
